| McKinzie Construction was contracted to complete renovation activities in the primary health care facilities at the Kansas City VA Medical Center. Therefore, McKinzie’s responsibilities included careful coordination of site work and complete control of scheduling to assure this requirement was satisfied. The renovations included construction of two(2) Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) Isolation Rooms in unfinished space, construction of eight (8) Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Rooms in unfinished and occupied space, construction of a Waiting Area and demolition of the existing PCU. The project included multiple phases of construction that were required to be completed and occupied by the VAMC prior to initiation of the next phase of construction. The project included hazardous materials abatement. The project included all phases typical of renovation/new construction projects, including demolition, site work, carpentry, mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, flooring, cabinetry, painting, etc. This project also required the purchasing and installation of specialized medical equipment. |
