Streambank Stabilization Route H

  streambank stabilization

McKinzie Construction performed an Emergency Streambank Stabilization project for the Kansas City Corps of Engineers to stabilize the West Fork of the Grand River streambank near Albany, Missouri. The streambank was eroding and threatening the integrity of the Route H bridge, in addition to the loss of valuable farmland of adjacent property owners. McKinzie worked closely with the Corps of Engineers, Missouri Department of Transportation, and the property owners to complete this project in a timely manner to successfully protect the endangered bridge and farmland. The project included sensitive traffic issues and site conditions. The work was safely completed without incident due to heavy traffic at high speeds, and modifications to the work scope were completed due to changing site conditions without delay or additional expense to the government.

This project involved:

  • Installation of 10,000 tons of rip rap
  • Excavation and grading
  • Construction of access roads
  • Traffic control and safety
  • Coordination with interested parties
  • Planting and seeding
  • Erosion Control
